From 10-11 February, CEODE convened its 2012 Development Strategy Seminar. Researchers and administrators from CEODE—in total more than 60 people—attended the event.

The seminar focused on major national strategic needs, international development trends, CAS’s “Innovation 2020” and “Twelfth Five-Year Plan” projects and how to implement CEODE’s “one positioning, three breakthroughs, five important fosteringdirections” project (the “one, three, five“ project for short ) so as to provide advice for CEODE’s deepening reform and innovation. 

CEODE Director-General GUO Huadong firstly introduced the background and significance of “Innovation 2020” and the “one, three, five” project and put forth requirements. He pointed out the need to integrate thought and wisdom to ensure the implementation of the “one, three, five” project and promote the work of the “Twelfth Five-Year Plan”.

In the seminar, CEODE leader WANG Xiaoming conveyed the main content of the 2012 CAS working conference and CEODE leaders and researchers studied CAS President BAI Chunli’s report about talent training and “Innovation 2020”. Focusing on how to reach breakthroughs and develop new directions, CEODE staff discussed and proposed many constructive comments and suggestions as a group.　　

In the following meeting on 11 February, the two groups gave reports on the results of the prior discussions. Afterwards, CEODE Director-General GUO Huadong gave concluding remarks and emphasized the “one, three, five” project’s significance to CEODE’s development. He also analyzed CEODE’s scientific and technological base under the current developing environment and put forth work for the next phase.
