On 23 May, the Vice Chairman of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of China, JIN Nuo, visited CEODE.

The group watched videos on the Digital Earth Science Platform and visited the operation and control system of the satellite ground control hall. They also visited CEODE’s Airborne Remote Sensing Center and the three international organizations hosted by CEODE. Afterwards, representatives from CEODE held a discussion with the delegation.

CEODE Director-General GUO Huadong first thanked the Xinjiang government for its support for CEODE’s Kashgar Sub-Center, the Kashgar Ground Receiving Station, and remote sensing in China. He stated that CEODE was carrying out its work to meet national strategic needs and explore international scientific and technological frontiers, and that CEODE would further support the development of Xinjiang and China’s western region.

Following a report made by CEODE Deputy Director ZHANG Bing, JIN addressed the group. She applauded the development of CEODE and expressed that the high technology she witnessed at CEODE was “stunning”. She pointed out that carrying out Xinjiang’s geological survey and land monitoring with remote sensing would play an important role in promoting Xinjiang’s development. She stressed that Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region attached great importance to the construction of the Kashgar Ground Receiving Station and would provide a good environment for CAS and its researchers.

Xinjiang Science and Technology Department Director-General ZHANG Xiaolei also delivered a speech. He hoped CEODE would promote cooperation for the development of Xinjiang, combining national scientific and technological objectives. At the meeting, CEODE Director-General GUO Huadong also introduced the scientific experiments CEODE has carried out in Kashgar.

Also in attendance were LIU Hua and DUAN Shengrong from Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and Deputy Director LIU Jianbo and YIN Ming from CEODE.
