On 11 September, chaired by Prof. John van Genderen, the Third Meeting of the Editorial Board of the International Journal of Digital Earth was held in Beijing. It was attended by a total of 18 board members and observers including Editor-in-Chief Prof. Guo Huadong, Associate Editor-in-Chief Prof. Wang Changlin.

During the meeting, Prof. Wang gave a report on the publishing work of the journal as well as the success that the journal was embodied by SCI-E. On behalf of the journal’s publishing company, Taylor & Francis Group, Mme. Chistina Low reported to the board about their efforts in publishing the journal in 2008 and the first half of 2009.

The board members spoke highly of the hard work of the editors and publishers and expressed their gratitude to the achievement scored merely within a year and a half. After discussion, one term of office was pinned down as three years and Dr. Gabor Remetey-Fülöpp was elected a new board member. And then the attendees made an in-depth discussion on the suggestion of recruiting more foreign experts and female scientists into the board and some other issues.

Meanwhile, the Fourth Meeting of the Editorial Board of the journal was scheduled to open during the next International Symposium of Digital Earth.
