Richard Nader, Interim Vice Provost for International Affairs at the University of North Texas (UNT), visited CEODE on 12 June.
Accompanied by CEODE Deputy Director ZHANG Bing, Nader and other representatives from UNT and CEODE first watched videos on the Digital Earth Science Platform and visited the satellite ground control hall to see the operation and control system of CEODE’s ground station network. They also visited the three international organizations hosted by CEODE: the International Centre on Space Technologies for Natural and Cultural Heritage under the Auspices of UNESCO (HIST), the International Society for Digital Earth (ISDE) and the International Programme Office for Integrated Research on Disaster Risk (IRDR).
After the tour, the delegation and representatives from CEODE held a discussion. LIU Jie, Director of the International Cooperation Office, introduced CEODE’s current activities, operation of national scientific and technological infrastructure, and progress in science, research, and international cooperation. Nader also gave an introduction to UNT, including research areas, teachers and students, construction of schools, and international cooperation. The topics of scientific research and international cooperation—areas that are of particular interest to CEODE and UNT—were further discussed in detail.
Also in attendance was the Director of Partnerships and Special Initiatives for UNT-International, Jennifer Roglà.
