On January 27, 2010, the 863 Project “Research on a Reliable Solution to the Remote Sensing Image Calibration Model”, which is undertaken by the Department of Deep Processing of the Center for Earth Observation and Digital Earth, passed the inspection by the technical expert panel organized by National Remote Sensing Center of China.
Having heard a work report made by Jiao Weili (associate researcher in chief of the project), the expert panel watched the demonstration of the “remote sensing automatic orthographical system” software, examined the software test report and raised questions on precision correction, etc. After the respondent, the expert panel unanimously believed that the project team had overfulfilled their task and gave them high praises.
The project “Research on a Reliable Solution to the Remote Sensing Image Calibration Model” centers on finding a reliable solution to the remote sensing image calibration model, and proposes effective and feasible solutions as well as methods for gross error testing at control points of hypothesis testing; it also provides a stable method for solving rational function ill-conditioned equations; it explores ways for the control points to select automatic models and nice results have been proved in practical production application. The “remote sensing automatic orthographical system” based on this project has the features of high precision, standard specifications and complete information, and thus is able to meet the needs of industrial application. After three years of efforts, the project has overfulfilled its task: there are 3 patent of invention, 5 terms of software copyright registration, 20 academic theses and 12 students cultivated.
