On 16 May 2012, Ambassador( DHM) Omer Eisa Ahmed of the Embassy of the Republic of the Sudan’s Beijing Economic and Trade Centre was invited to visit the Center for Earth Observation and Digital Earth (CEODE), CAS.

Ahmed watched videos on the Digital Earth Science Platform and the Miyun Ground Station's real-time operations and visited the satellite ground control hall to see the operation and control system of the station network. He also visited the international organizations hosted by CEODE. BI Jiantao, the Deputy Section Chief of the Science and Technology Department, gave an introduction to CEODE’s scientific research and industrialization work.

Ahmed spoke highly of CEODE’s achievements in the areas of aerospace research and Earth observation. He remarked that CEODE has responded to the demands of global change and sustainable development with advanced technologies and increased capacity for Earth observation, providing strong support for the research and development of these fields. He hoped to further strengthen communication, systems development, and talent fostering in the field of Earth observation and carry out substantive cooperation between China and Sudan under the multilateral cooperation platform of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation.
